Release status

A playable development build, not a final release

This guide documents the current 0.5 operation flow in the project and test installation. Placement, balance, prompts, and progression may change before the public release. Keep a backup before replacing a build.

Compatibility: remove the retired HomeInvasion.dll or EnhancedHomeInvasions build. Backdoored refuses to run beside the abandoned identity.

First Knock

Latch teaches the whole loop

Request the lead with L

Be alive, on foot, off mission, and below the configured wanted level. Default contract hours are 19:00–05:00.

Read the dossier

Latch identifies the residence, likely residents, preferred loot, risk, territory owner, heat, and police posture.

Enter with G and stay quiet

Sprinting, aiming, visible weapons, gunfire, broken goods, and carried weight raise suspicion. Residents can call for help.

Move physical loot

Small goods fill the visible bag. Bulky items require a parked vehicle and an observed loading action at its rear.

Escape and break contact

Get at least 240 metres away, clear wanted and dispatch pressure, and remain clear for ten continuous seconds.

Unload at the Vespucci stash

Park within 12 metres, stand at the rear, and use E. A small bag can unload on foot at the door.

Capacity grows with commissions

Start at 4 items / 18 kg. Upgrades unlock at 2, 5, and 10 completed commissions, ending at 20 items / 120 kg.

BUYERS

Reserve an exact item

The Collector wants jewelry and art; the Trader wants electronics, documents, merchandise, and cash; the Specialist wants weapons and drugs.

TRUST

Delivery quality improves offers

Each completed commission adds trust. Trust can improve the normal heat- and demand-based offer without exceeding retail value.

OWNERSHIP

Stock belongs to its protagonist

Switch back to the character who stole the goods to reserve and sell them.

Backdoored is designed to fail closed

A reload preserves the active manifest and durable receipt state. A held Backspace pauses recoverable cargo. Never edit or delete the save while a payout receipt is unresolved. Report the residence ID, phase, protagonist, exact last action, and relevant log lines in the Backdoored support room.
